Ms. Johnson, Mrs. Hawk-Williams

Dear Asbury Parents, Students, and Visitors to our Website,

Welcome to Asbury Elementary School’s website.  We are the home of the Asbury Foxes—students from grades Kindergarten through 5th.  We hope you will enjoy browsing through our website of events, activities, and photos.  The Foxes enjoy many fun family activities throughout the year and are always excited to share with the larger community.

As we look ahead to the new school year, we also look back at some of the areas of note in 2015-16:

  • SOL Scores showed steady growth in 15-16:

  • Language Arts for grades 3,4,5= 85% (75% in 2015)

  • Math for grades 3,4,5= 85% (77% in 2015)

  • Science= 87% (62% in 2015)

  • Social= 94% (88% in 2015)

  • Strong PTA membership and fun activities: Family Movie Night, Field Day, Young Audiences performances, to name a few

  • Student musical performances at all grade levels

  • SCA Service Learning projects: hygiene kits for the homeless, funding water bottles for Field Day participants

  • Farm Fresh 123-4 program: $105,000 in points raised in 15-16, allowing purchase of school-wide incentives and classroom resources—be sure you get a “scan tag” for the 16-17 school year!

  • Box Tops program: $1,200 raised through Box Tops that was used for Reading/Writing software licenses and programs

  • Accelerated Reader program—grade level competitions to be the “Top Fox” team

  • Celebrations for student achievement: Honor Roll/Perfect Attendance receptions, PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentives and Supports) “Dance Parties”

  • Evening Events: “I Love Literacy Night,” Family Math Night, Family Fitness Night, musical performances

  • Recognized by the Hampton Clean City Commission for plastic bag recycling efforts

  • Community partnerships that brought support with grounds maintenance and painting needs

  • Faith-based partnerships (Wallace Memorial UMC and Fox Hill Central UMC) that brought supplies, assistance, and support to all areas of our school

Our staff members are dedicated to providing a strong foundation for all of our Foxes---from the youngest in Kindergarten to the “seniors” in 5th grade.  We appreciate the support of the community and parents as we set our expectations high for the 2016-17 school year.

We invite you to view our website for important information regarding activities, enrichment, and support for your child’s education.
